Upcoming 2008 Movies: February Through June

 

A new year is upon us which means there will be plenty of blockbusters as well as forgettable films that will be opening in theaters in the coming months.  We take a look at some of the movies that you can expect to see from February through June!

 

February

 

Definitely, Maybe

Will Hayes tries to explain his relationships with three different women when his 10-year-old daughter questions how he and her mother met and fell in love.  "Definitely, Maybe" stars Ryan Reynolds, Abigail Breslin, Isla Fisher and Rachel Weisz and hits theaters on February 14th.

 

Fool's Gold

Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey play an estranged married couple in pursuit of a secret treasure in this romantic comedy.  Look for "Fool's Gold" in theaters on February 8th.

 

Jumper

What if you suddenly found out that you had the ability to teleport from one location to another?  This is what happens to Davey (Hayden Christensen) who soon discovers there are others who share the same ability.  However, there are drawbacks in the form of a group of assassins bent on annihilating those who have the gift.  "Jumper" hits theaters on February 14th and also stars Samuel L. Jackson and Diane Lane.

 

The Other Boleyn Girl

Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson star as Anne and Mary Boleyn in this period drama.  The two sisters must vie for the love King Henry VIII (Eric Bana) in "The Other Boleyn Girl" opening on February 29th.

 

The Spiderwick Chronicles

Three children are caught up in the adventure of a lifetime when their family moves to the Spiderwick Estate.  "The Spiderwick Chronicles" stars Freddie Highmore, Mary Louise-Parker and David Strathairn and opens on February 14th.

 

Vantage Point

What happens when several people witness the attempted assassination of the president from different vantage points?  Look for this movie, starring Matthew Fox, William Hurt, Dennis Quaid, Sigourney Weaver and Forest Whitaker, on the big screen on February 22nd.

 

 

March

 

21

A group of students from MIT experiment with card counting in the Vegas casinos.  Based on a true story, "21" stars Kate Bosworth, Laurence Fishburne and Kevin Spacey.  Look for this flick in theaters on March 28th.

 

10,000 BC

A hero fights for the survival of he and his people in prehistoric times.  Look for "10,000 BC" in theaters on March 7th.

 

The Accidental Husband

What will happen when a jilted man decides to seek revenge against a talk show therapist who advised his girlfriend to dump him?  "The Accidental Husband" stars Colin Firth, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Isabella Rossellini and Uma Thurman and hits theaters on March 7th.

 

Horton Hears A Who

Steve Carell and Jim Carrey provide voices for this Dr. Seuss animated classic about Horton, an elephant, who happens across the tiny civilization of Who's.  "Horton Hears a Who" comes to theaters on March 14th.

 

 

April

 

88 Minutes

Dr. Jack Gramm, who was responsible for putting a criminal on death row, receives an ominous message that he just has 88 minutes to live.  Will he be able to solve the mystery before time runs out?  "88 Minutes" stars Al Pacino and comes to theaters on April 18th.

 

Forbidden Kingdom

Jackie Chan and Jet Li star in "Forbidden Kingdom" set for release on April 18th.  A teenager finds himself with a group of warriors in the quest to save the fabled Monkey King in this action/adventure.

 

Leatherheads

"Leatherheads" is scheduled for release on April 4th.  The romantic comedy, which stars George Clooney and Renee Zellweger, tells the story of a love triangle between a football player, his fiancee and his coach in the 1920s.

 

The List

A man's life is turned upside down when he becomes part of a seedy underground and is soon pinpointed in the disappearance of a young woman.  "The List" stars Hugh Jackman, Ewan McGregor and Michelle Williams.  Look for this in theaters on April 25th.

 

Nim's Island

It's nonstop action and fantasy in "Nim's Island" hitting theaters on April 4th.  Jodie Foster stars as author Alex Rover who goes on her own adventure when Nim (Abigail Breslin), a young fan, is in need of help.  The movie also stars Gerard Butler.

 

Shine A Light

This documentary follows legendary rock band the Rolling Stones.  Directed by Oscar winner Martin Scorsese, look for this film in limited release on April 4th.

 

 

May

 

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

The second installment of the "Chronicles of Narnia" finds the Pevensie children coming to the aid of Prince Caspian, the rightful ruler of Narnia.  "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" features the voice of Liam Neeson as Aslan and hits theaters on May 16th.

 

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Look for this swashbuckling adventure on the big screen on May 22nd.  Harrison Ford returns for the fourth installment of the Indiana Jones franchise which also features Karen Allen who reprises her role as Marion, Cate Blanchett and Shia LaBeouf.

 

Iron Man

The story of the famed Marvel Comics hero comes to the big screen on May 2nd.  Starring Robert Downey Jr. in the title role, "Iron Man" tells the story of Tony Stark who decides to fight the powers of evil after inventing a suit that is also a life support system for him.  The movie also stars Jeff Bridges, Terrence Howard and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Sex and the City

The hit HBO show hits the silver screen on May 30th.  Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Sarah Jessica Parker and Chris Noth all reprise their characters from the show with the addition of Jennifer Hudson as Carrie's (Parker) personal assistant.

 

Speed Racer

"Speed Racer" is another favorite that comes to the big screen on May 9th.  This live action flick stars Emile Hirsch in the title role of the young racer, Christina Ricci as his true love Trixie and Matthew Fox as his rival Racer X. 

 

What Happens In Vegas

After a wild night out on the town, Jack and Joy wake up to find themselves married.  Their problems don't end there, however, when they soon find out that one of them won the jackpot with the other's money.  "What Happens in Vegas" stars Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher and opens on May 16th.

 

 

June

 

Get Smart

Another small screen favorite makes its way to the big screen.  This time around, "Get Smart" stars Steve Carell as the infamous Maxwell Smart, the secret agent who must fight evil with the likes of Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway) and Agent 23 (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson).  Look for this comedy on June 20th.

 

The Incredible Hulk

Edward Norton takes over the role of Bruce Banner in "The Incredible Hulk" opening on June 13th.  Bruce is on the run while trying to find a cure for his condition.  The movie also stars William Hurt, Tim Roth and Liv Tyler.

 

Kung Fu Panda

A haphazard, slacking Panda must master Kung Fu in order to defend his territory from an evil leopard.  "Kung Fu Panda" opens on June 6th and features the voices of Jack Black, Jackie Chan, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie and Lucy Liu.

 

Wanted

Wesley is an unmotivated twenty-something man who suddenly, after the death of his father, finds himself as part of a secret organization that teaches him to use his untapped potential to avenge the death of his father.  "Wanted" stars Morgan Freeman, Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy.  It's scheduled to hit theaters on June 27th.
