Starsky and Hutch Gag Reel
“Starsky and Hutch”, the 1970’s hit TV show, hit the big screen in 2004 with Ben Stiller as David Starsky and Owen Wilson as Ken “Hutch” Hutchinson. The DVD release not only offers an entertaining movie but also a Gag Reel that shows some of the bloopers during filming. Here are some of the scenes you can expect to see!
Car High Jinx
At the end of the movie Starsky tries out his new car, which happens to be identical to the one he had just lost. Watch how the scene originally unfolded with Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller laughing through the shot.
Prison Outtakes
Will Ferrell gives an uncredited role in the movie as Big Earl, a man behind bars who has links to the film’s villain, Reese Feldman (Vince Vaughn). Will is in two Gag Reel scenes. The first is when he flubs his lines while talking to Starsky on the prison phone. The second is another line goof when he’s talking on the payphone to his boss.
It’s Out of Control!
The Gag Reel offers a look inside the scene where Reese is in the car with Kitty (Juliette Lewis). Not only do you get to see the pair break character and start to laugh, there is also a shot of the blue screen that the scene was filmed against.
It’s a Flying Car, Or is It?
Near the end of the movie, Starsky’s car flies across the boat that Reese and Kitty are on. You’ll get to see how the scene was actually filmed before the car was added to the shot as well as Vince Vaughn and Juliette Lewis trying to pretend that it’s actually there.
A Blast From the Past
Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul, the original Starsky and Hutch, make an appearance near the end of the movie. You won’t see these two miss their lines, but keep an eye on the two police officers that show up to harass them.
What’s the Lizard Doing?
Snoop Dogg portrays the informant, Huggy Bear. Watch as the pet lizard catches him off guard during filming.
Shetland Ponies
Captain Doby (Fred Williamson) is furious with Starsky and Hutch after an incident at Reese’s daughter’s birthday party. Not only does Fred Williamson flub his lines, you’ll also notice that the lines were on the desk in front of him.
