My Take:
The music for Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo is a fun, decent soundtrack. The CD begins with Blondie’s legendary rocker “Call Me” and quickly goes into the funky beat and partly spoken lyrics of “Spill the Wine” by War and Eric Burdon. The danceable tunes of “You Sexy Thing” by Hot Chocolate and KC & the Sunshine Band’s “Get Down Tonight” were next. The pace slowed a bit for Marvin Gaye’s classic hit “Let’s Get It On” and the 10cc tune “I’m Not in Love”. “Magnet and Steel” by Walter Egan picked up the pace and was followed by the upbeat jazz/reggae sound of “No Worries” by Hepcat. The soundtrack went into full rocker mode with Sean Beal’s “Can’t Smile Without You” and “Lift Me Up” by Jeff Lynne. This was followed by a “metalized” rendition of “Call Me” by Emilia Maiello.
Best Track:
The Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo soundtrack had plenty of dance and rock numbers. “Call Me” by Blondie has to stand out as my favorite on the CD. It’s definitely an “in your face” rock tune with great vocals by Debbie Harry. KC & the Sunshine Band’s “Get Down Tonight” was also a favorite because of its groovy ‘70’s dance beat as well as “Let’s Get It On” because of Marvin Gaye’s smooth vocals on the song. Rounding out my favorites would have to be “Can’t Smile Without You” by Sean Beal and Jeff Lynne’s “Lift Me Up” for their edgier sounds.
