A Fish Called Wanda DVD Special Features

 

The long awaited two disc, special edition of A Fish Called Wanda was recently released.  The movie, which told of four bumbling con artists trying to get away with a diamond heist, while betraying each other, starred John Cleese, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Kline and Michael Palin.  What are some of the DVD extras you can expect to find?

This feature included special intros by John Cleese.

Featurettes:

John Cleese’s First Farewell Performance

This is older footage shot around the time that A Fish Called Wanda was released. The segment includes John Cleese getting ready to shoot the airport scene.  Iain Johnstone conducts an interview with John Cleese where he talks about his ideas for the movie, rehearsals, the writing process and casting for the film.  There is also a behind the scenes look at the filming of different scenes as well as segments talking with Michael Palin, Jamie Lee Curtis and Kevin Kline.

 

Farewell Featurette

John Cleese talks about the side plot with Ken and the dogs and a behind the scenes clip of how the stunt for Archie hanging out the window was devised.  The feature included a short interview with Michael Palin and a look at the airport luggage chute scene (as well as a notable performance by Palin of the legendary Monty Python “Lumberjack Song” in German!).

 

Cleese talks about working with Jamie Lee Curtis and Kevin Kline as well as how it was playing the character Archie Leach.  In turn, the film’s director, Charles Crichton, and the cast talk about working with John Cleese.
