“Domino” DVD Special Features

 

2005’s “Domino” told the story of Domino Harvey (1969-2005), the rebel daughter of actor Laurence Harvey (1928-1973) and model Paulene Stone, who went from boarding school to becoming a renowned bounty hunter.  What are some of the special features you can find on this DVD?

 

Commentaries

The DVD allows you choose between two feature commentaries during the film.  The first option features commentary from the director of “Domino”, Tony Scott, and the movie’s writer, Richard Kelly.  The second option features an alternate audio track that includes script notes and story development meetings with Tony Scott, Richard Kelly, executive producer Zach Schief-Abrams and songwriter/performer Tom Waits.

 

Deleted/Alternate Scenes

This feature includes seven deleted/alternate scenes with optional commentary by Tony Scott.

-          Young Domino (Tabitha Brownstone) ties up and gags her Nanny (Lora Witty) in a scene that was cut from the film

-          Domino (Keira Knightley) reacts to the therapist in a cut scene

-          Ian Ziering with Brian Austin Green gets into an argument with Howie Stein (Charles Paraventi) in a scene cut from the film

-          “Ratchet Down the Violence” was an extended version of the scene with Mark Heiss (Christopher Walken) that was seen in the film

-          Mark Heiss and Kimmie (Mena Suvari) are shown in a scene during the aftermath of the Winnebago explosion in a scene that was eventually cut from the film

-          An alternate version of “Love in the Desert” featured the music of Jimi Hendrix

-          The gang arrives in Las Vegas in a cut scene titled “Mescaline Tripping at the Stardust”

 

I Am A Bounty Hunter: Domino Harvey’s Life

This retrospect gave insight into the life of Domino Harvey.  The short bio delves into Domino’s childhood and explains how she eventually became a renowned bounty hunter.  The feature includes film footage, an optional alternate audio track featuring Richard Kelly interviewing Domino Harvey as well as interviews with:

-          Paulene Stone Burns (Domino’s mother)

-          Choco (friend/former bounty hunter)

-          Samuel Hadida (producer)

-          Richard Kelly (screenwriter)

-          Keira Knightley

-          Annabelle Neilsen (childhood friend)

-          Edgar Ramirez (portrays Choco in the movie)

-          Tony Scott (director/producer)

-          Peter Tourmasis (co-producer)

-          Zeke Unger (technical adviser)

 

Bounty Hunting On Acid:  Tony Scott’s Visual Style

This feature includes interviews with several people in regards to the filming techniques, rapid sequences and the color alterations Tony Scott used during the filming of “Domino”.  Skip Chaisson (executive producer), Samuel Hadida, Richard Kelly, Dan Mindel (director of photography), Tony Scott and Barry Waldman (executive producer) sound off on the project.
