Countdown to X-Men: The Last Stand

The mutants are set to return in the upcoming “X-Men: The Last Stand”.  We take a look at some of the things X-Men and movie fans might be seeing in the film!

**SPOILER ALERT**

Beware!  If you’re waiting to be surprised by the movie, this contains info that could spoil certain things for you!

What’s It All About?

A cure has been found that can turn mutants into regular humans.    While Magneto (Ian McKellan) and his Brotherhood violently condemn the existence of such a “cure”, Xavier (Patrick Stewart) is still willing to work things out.  Look for plenty of action sequences, including a scene involving Magneto and the Golden Gate Bridge.

New Faces

While the regulars from the previous films will be returning, look for some new faces to appear on the screen in either major roles or bit parts.  Among these are:

Dr. Hank McCoy a.k.a. Beast (played by Kelsey Grammer) is known for his blue skin and fur, Beast has great strength and agility.

Callisto (played by Dania Ramirez) is known for being superhuman with heightened reflexes and senses, she’ll do battle with Storm (Halle Berry).

Cain Marko a.k.a. Juggernaut (played by Vinnie Jones) is known to be practically invincible.  He’ll side with Magneto.

Kitty Pride a.k.a. Shadowcat has appeared in previous X-Men movies, this is the first time that Ellen Page has portrayed her.  Shadowcat has the ability to walk through objects such as walls.

Warren Worthington III a.k.a. Angel (played by Ben Foster) is known for having wings which enables him to fly.

Piotr Rasputin a.k.a. Colossus (played by Daniel Cudmore) is known for his ability to turn completely into metal.

A Phoenix Rises From The Ashes

When we last saw Jean Grey (Famke Janssen) she became engulfed in a wall of water that she was holding back in order for the others to escape.  If you thought that was the end of her character, think again!  Jean comes back even more powerful and somewhat uncontrollable as the Dark Phoenix.  Will she align herself with Xavier or Magneto?

It’s The End Of The Road

**SPOILERS – This is Your Last Chance To Turn Back!**

There has been wide speculation over which characters would not make it to the end of the movie.  Some reports have Jean Grey annihilating two popular characters: Cyclops (James Marsden) within the first 15-20 minutes of the film and Xavier later before meeting her own fate.

Some mutants will inevitably lose their powers due to the “cure”.  Some reports have Magneto and Mystique (Rebecca Romijn) being among these.

What Next?

Never rule out a fourth installment of the “X-Men” franchise.  However, Halle Berry has already indicated that she would not return as Storm for another movie.  Also, just because a character is killed off, doesn’t mean they’re gone for good!

But, in the meantime, two of the X-Men characters will be seen in their own movies within the next year or so.  A Wolverine spin-off with Hugh Jackman is already in the works as is a Magneto movie.
