We all have a favorite line, phrase or saying from a movie that we love to spurt out from time to time. The American Film Institute has listed the top 100 movie quotes from over a century of cinema. We take a look at the quotes that made the list a numbers 51 through 100, the movies they appear in and who said them.
100. “I’m King of the World!”
When “Titanic” was released in 1997, this phrase became one of the most recognizable lines from the movie. Jack Dawson (Leonard DiCaprio) yells the line while he and Fabrizio (Danny Nucci) are standing at the bow of the ship at the beginning of the voyage.
99. “I’ll Get You, My Pretty, and Your Little Dog Too!”
Margaret Hamilton will forever be immortalized as one of cinema’s top villains for her portrayal of the Wicked Witch of the West in “The Wizard of Oz” (1939). She uttered this phrase to Dorothy (Judy Garland) and Toto (Terry).
98. “Nobody Puts Baby In a Corner.”
“Dirty Dancing” became a sensation when it was released in 1987. Who said this famous phrase? Johnny (Patrick Swayze), who was talking about Baby/Frances (Jennifer Grey).
97. “My Mother Thanks You. My Father Thanks You. My Sister Thanks You and I Thank You!”
This phrase was said by George Cohan (James Cagney). The line appears in the 1942 musical “Yankee Doodle Dandy”.
96. “Snap Out Of It!”
95. “Carpe Diem. Seize the Day, Boys. Make Your Lives Extraordinary.”
Robin Williams starred in “Dead Poets Society” (1989) as John Keating, a professor in a boy’s private school. During this scene, Keating talks to the boys of his class during a lesson which is taking place in a hall filled with the accomplishments of past students.
94. “I Feel the Need…the Need For Speed!”
This line is from the 1986 movie “Top Gun”. Maverick (Tom Cruise) says “I feel the need…” and is joined by Goose (Anthony Edwards) for the remaining “…need for speed” line.
93. “Life is a Banquet and Most Poor Suckers are Starving to Death.”
“Auntie Mame” was released in 1958 and starred Rosalind Russell in the title role. During this scene, Auntie Mame is talking to Agnes Gooch (Peggy Cass).
92. “Cinderella Story. Outta Nowhere. A Former Greenskeeper, Now, About to Become the Masters Champion. It Looks Like a Mirac…It’s In the Hole! It’s In the Hole!”
Who hasn’t heard this phrase from 1980’s “Caddyshack”. Greenskeeper Carl Spackler (Bill Murray) is by himself in this scene while fantasizing about playing the Masters.
91. “Who’s On First?”
The comedy team of Abbott and Costello starred in “The Naughty Nineties” (1945). In this scene, Dexter Broadhurst (Abbott) utters the famous phrase to Sebastian Dinwiddle (Costello).
90. “A Martini. Shaken, Not Stirred.”
Everyone knows who orders this favorite drink. The martini gained popularity when James Bond (Sean Connery) said this line in “Goldfinger” (1964).
89. “Tell ‘Em To Go Out There With All They Got and Win Just One For the Gipper.”
“The Gipper” nickname would stick with Ronald Reagan through his movie and political career. His character, George Gipp, said this line in 1940’s “Knute Rockne All American” to the title character (played by Pat O’Brien).
88. “Listen To Me, Mister. You’re My Knight in Shining Armor. Don’t You Forget It. You’re Going To Get Back On That Horse, and I’m Going To Be Right Behind You, Holding On Tight and Away We’re Gonna Go, Go, Go!”
This quote appeared in “On Golden Pond” (1981). In the scene, Ethel Thayer (Katharine Hepburn) is talking to her ailing husband, Norman (Henry Fonda).

Most people remember Bela Lugosi for his portrayal of the vampire count in 1933’s “Dracula”. Dracula (Lugosi) says this to a startled Renfield (Dwight Frye) when the sounds of wolves can be heard in the distance.

It was time for a toga party in the cult classic “Animal House” (1978). Bluto a.k.a. John Blutarsky (John Belushi) starts the chant when Otter a.k.a. Eric Stratton (Tim Matheson) mentions having a toga party.

Barbra Sreisand starred as Fanny Brice in 1968’s “Funny Girl”. In this scene, Fanny utters the line while looking into a mirror.

It’s a different world in “Soylent Green” (1973). In this scene near the end of the movie, Detective Robert Thorn (Charlton Heston) is able to tell Lieutenant Hatcher (Brock Peters) what the true contents of the food source, soylent green, is before being taken away.

One catchphrase that caught on was this line from “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” (1991). The phrase was spoken by the Terminator played by Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Another phrase that movie fans will remember is this one from “Mommie Dearest” (1981). In this scene Joan Crawford (Faye Dunaway) reprimands her young daughter, Christina (Mara Hobel) for hanging her clothes on wire hangers.

This was one of the creepier lines from “Poltergeist” (1982). The Freelings’ (played by Craig T. Nelson and JoBeth Williams) youngest daughter, Carol Anne (Heather O’Rourke) says this after making contact with strange forces.

1964’s “Dr. Strangelove” is considered to be one of the greatest movies of all time. This quote that ranks at number sixty-four on AFI’s Movie Quotes list is said by President Merkin Muffley who was portrayed by Peter Sellers.

Benjamin Braddock (Dustin Hoffman) says this to Mrs. Robinson (Anne Bancroft). Both starred in the 1967 film “The Graduate”.

These words were said by Rose Moline in the film “Beyond the Forest” (1949). Rose was played by legendary screen actress Bette Davis.

The “little friend” turned out to be a weapon in “Scarface” (1983). The line was said by drug lord Tony Montana (Al Pacino).
60. “Well, Here’s Another Nice Mess You’ve Gotten Me Into!”
The slapstick humor of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy is legendary to fans of the cinema. Oliver Hardy says these words to Stan Laurel in 1933’s “Sons of the Desert”.

The Civil War has taken its toll on Scarlett O’Hara (Vivien Leigh), her family and her home. She utters this line in “Gone With the Wind” (1939).

The Corleone family returned in “The Godfather II” (1974). In this scene, “Keep your friends close but your enemies closer” was said by Michael Corleone (Al Pacino).

“Wall Street” (1987) showed that the world of finance can be a cutthroat business. The successful, and somewhat sadistic Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas), says this infamous line.

Some moviegoers were scared to take showers after seeing Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho” (1960). This line is said by Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins).

This is one of the lines said by Annie Hall, the main character of Woody Allen’s 1977 film of the same name. Annie Hall was portrayed by Diane Keaton.

What happens when Jimmy Dugan (Tom Hanks) coaches a women’s baseball team? Dugan says this line I “A League of Their Own” (1992) to a crying Evelyn Gardner (Bitty Schram).

The Marx Brothers are legendary for their comedic antics. Although there were four brothers, Groucho Marx was the one who said this line in “Animal Crackers” (1930).

Another romantic film is 1996’s “Jerry Maguire” starring Renee Zellweger and Tom Cruise. During a conversation, Dorothy Boyd (Zellweger) says this phrase to Jerry Maguire (Tom Cruise).
51. “You’ve Got To Ask Yourself One Question: ‘Do I Feel Lucky?’ Well, Do Ya Punk?”
Inspector Harry Callahan says this infamous line in 1971’s “Dirty Harry”. Many moviegoers will remember that Harry is played by Clint Eastwood.
