8th Annual Michael Douglas and Friends Celebrity Golf Tournament

 

Golf is not only a favorite pastime for many celebrities but it’s a chance for some Hollywood notables to help raise money for a worthy cause.  On May 7th, 2006, the eighth annual Michael Douglas and Friends event took place at the Trump National Golf Club located in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.  The event, which will be broadcast at a later date, was sponsored by Lexus and benefits the Motion Picture and Television Fund.

 

Who were some of the celebrities who participate?

 

Catherine Bell – is best known for her role as Mac in the hit TV series “J.A.G.”.  Bell also appeared in the 2003 blockbuster comedy “Bruce Almighty” with Jim Carrey and Jennifer Aniston.

 

Don Cheadle – this versatile actor received an Oscar nomination for his role in 2004’s “Hotel Rwanda”.  He also costarred in “Crash” (2004), 2000’s “Family Man” with Nicolas Cage and Tea Leoni and “Boogie Nights” (1997).  Cheadle appeared in “Ocean’s 11” (2001), it’s 2004 sequel and will return in the upcoming third installment.

 

Michael Douglas – the legendary actor who helped to organize the event has starred in “Fatal Attraction” (1987), “Wall Street” (1987) for which he won an Oscar and “Basic Instinct” (1992).  He recently appeared in 2006’s “The Sentinel” and returns to the big screen alongside Kate Hudson and Owen Wilson in the upcoming “You, Me and Dupree”.

 

Josh Duhamel – currently stars as Danny on TV’s “Las Vegas”.  He also starred in the title role in 2004’s “Win a Date with Tad Hamilton” with Topher Grace and will appear in the upcoming movie “Transformers”.

 

Andy Garcia – will also return to the big screen in the upcoming “Ocean’s 13” and “Smokin’ Aces”.  Besides the first two “Ocean’s 11” films, Garcia has appeared in “The Untouchables” (1987) and “The Godfather III” (1990).  He also costarred with Douglas in 1989’s “Black Rain”.

 

Samuel L. Jackson – who will be starring in one of the year’s most anticipated movies, “Snakes on a Plane”.  Jackson has a long list of movie credits, including roles as Mace Windu in the latest “Star Wars” features, the voice of Frozone in “The Incredibles” (2004), the title role in “Shaft” (2000) and appearances in “The Long Kiss Goodnight” (1996) with Geena Davis and “Pulp Fiction” (1994) with John Travolta.

 

Cheryl Ladd – may be best known for her portrayal of Kris Munroe on TV’s “Charlie’s Angels” and as Lillian on “Las Vegas”.  She also appeared in the 1992 movie “Poison Ivy” starring Drew Barrymore.

 

Heather Locklear – has appeared in several hit TV shows including “Melrose Place”, “Dynasty” and “T.J. Hooker”.  She has costarred in several movies such as “The Perfect Man” (2005) with Hilary Duff and “First Wives Club” (1996).  Locklear can be seen in the upcoming film, “Oranges”, with Tom Arnold.

 

Kyle MacLachlan – has appeared in such TV shows as “Desperate Housewives” and “Sex in the City”.  He costarred with Ethan Hawke, Bill Murray and Julia Stiles in the 2000 version of “Hamlet” and made appearances in “The Flintstones” (1994) with John Goodman and Rosie O’Donnell, “The Doors” (1991) with Val Kilmer and “Blue Velvet” (1986) with Dennis Hopper and Isabella Rossellini.

 

Haley Joel Osment – made a name for himself with his Oscar nominated performance in 1999’s “Sixth Sense” starring opposite Bruce Willis.  Osment, who next appears on the big screen in the upcoming “Home of the Giants”, has also costarred in “Secondhand Lions” (2003) with Robert Duvall and Michael Caine, “AI: Artificial Intelligence” (2001) with Jude Law, and “Forrest Gump” (1994) with Tom Hanks.

 

Martin Sheen – who starred recently in the TV series “The West Wing” as President Bartlet appeared opposite Michael Douglas in 1995’s “American President”.  Sheen also starred as General Robert E. Lee in “Gettysburg” (1993) and with Marlon Brando and Robert Duvall in “Apocalypse Now” (1979).  He next appears in the upcoming “Bordertown” with Antonio Banderas and Jennifer Lopez.
