2007 Walk of Fame Honorees

 

The names of those receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007 were announced on June 23rd.  Along with recording artists, television stars and radio personalities, a number of people known for their work in film were also listed.  Among those receiving a star next year will be:

 

Robert Altman has become one of Hollywood’s legendary directors.  Throughout his illustrious career, Altman has directed such critically acclaimed movies as 1970’s “M*A*S*H” and “Nashville” (1975).  He directed 2001’s “Gosford Park” starring Michael Gambon, Clive Owen and Maggie Smith and the recent “A Prairie Home Companion” with Meryl Streep and Lindsay Lohan.  Altman received an honorary Oscar for his esteemed work in film at the 2006 awards ceremony.

 

Michael Caine has appeared as Alfred in Batman Begins (2005) and as Austin Powers’ dad, Nigel, in Austin Powers: Goldmember (2002).  He also appeared in the critically acclaimed “Quills” (2000) and has won two Best Supporting Actor Oscars for his work in Woody Allen’s “Hannah and her Sisters” (1986) and 1999’s “The Cider House Rules” with Tobey Maguire and Charlize Theron.

 

Matt Damon recently appeared in the critically acclaimed “Syriana” (2005) with George Clooney and The Brothers Grimm (2005) with Heath Ledger.  He also co-starred as Linus in “Ocean’s 11” (2001) and as Jason in “Bourne Identity” (2002) and each of their sequels.  Damon starred in the title role in 1997’s “Good Will Hunting” for which he and longtime friend, Ben Affleck, won Oscars for scriptwriting.

 

Jamie Foxx has a number of upcoming movies including “Miami Vice” with Colin Farrell and “Dreamgirls” with Eddie Murphy and Beyonce Knowles.  He appeared in the recent “Jarhead” (2005) opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and as Willie Beamen in the 1999 football movie “Any Given Sunday” with Al Pacino and Cameron Diaz.  Foxx won rave reviews and the Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of legendary singer, Ray Charles in 2004’s “Ray”.

 

John Goodman may be best known for his role as Dan in the sitcom “Roseanne” but he has also appeared in a number of movies including “Raising Arizona” (1987) with Nicolas Cage and in 1990’s “Arachnophobia”.  He also appeared as legendary baseball star Babe Ruth in the biopic “The Babe” (1992) and as Big Dan in 2000’s “O Brother Where Art Thou”.  Goodman would go on to voice the loveable Sulley in the 2001 animated blockbuster “Monsters, Inc”.

 

Michelle Pfeiffer has portrayed a variety of characters in films.  Pfeiffer co-starred with Al Pacino in 1983’s “Scarface” where she played Elvira.  From there, she appeared as Catwoman in 1992’s  Batman Returns, as Lou Anne Johnson in “Dangerous Minds” (1995) and starred opposite George Clooney in the romantic comedy “One Fine Day” (1996).  Pfeiffer also starred in 2000’s “What Lies Beneath” with Harrison Ford.

 

Keifer Sutherland might be better known for his current role as Jack Bauer in the hit TV show “24” but acting resume includes such films as “A Few Good Men” (1992) with Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson, “Flatliners” (1990) with Julia Roberts and “Young Guns” (1988) with Emilio Estevez and Lou Diamond Phillips.  Sutherland also appeared in 2002’s “Phone Booth” with Colin Farrell and the recent movie “The Sentinel” (2006) opposite Michael Douglas and Eva Longoria.

 

Jerry Stiller is not only known for his role as loud Frank Costanza on the hit TV show “Seinfeld” but he is also dad to comedian/actor Ben Stiller.  Jerry Stiller has appeared in many films and TV shows including “Serving Sara” (2001) with Matthew Perry and Elizabeth Hurley and “Zoolander” (2001) opposite son, Ben, and Owen Wilson.

 

Lily Tomlin has appeared on stage, TV and in film.  Besides appearing in the recent Robert Altman picture “A Prairie Home Companion” (2006), Tomlin has starred in 2004’s “I Heart Huckabees” with Dustin Hoffman and “Tea with Mussolini” (1999) opposite Cher, Judi Dench and Maggie Smith.  Lily Tomlin also co-starred in other comedies such as “All of Me” (1984) with Steve Martin, 1988’s “Big Business” with Bette Midler and in the blockbuster hit, “Nine to Five” (1980) with Jane Fonda and Dolly Parton.
