2007 New York Film Critics Circle Awards

 

The winners of the annual New York Film Critics Circle awards were honored on January 6th in New York City.  Who were this year’s honorees?

 

Best Picture

“No Country For Old Men” was honored as best picture.  The movie, directed by Ethan and Joel Coen, tells the story of Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) who is relentlessly pursued by Chigurh (Javier Bardem) after Moss comes upon a drug deal gone awry and takes $2 million that he found at the site.

 

Best Animated Feature

Persepolis” won for best animated feature.  The movie tells the story of an unconventional girl living in Iran.

 

Best Director

Ethan and Joel Coen shared best director honors for their work on “No Country for Old Men”.

The two have worked together on such films as “Raising Arizona”, “Miller’s Crossing” and O Brother, Where Art Thou.

 

Best Actor

Daniel Day-Lewis won the award for best actor.  Day-Lewis portrays Daniel Plainview in the critically acclaimed film “There Will Be Blood”.

 

Best Supporting Actor

Javier Bardem continued his winning streak when he picked up the award for best supporting actor.  Bardem portrays Chigurh in “No Country for Old Men”.

 

Best Actress

Oscar nominee Julie Christie won the award for best actress.  She portrayed Fiona Anderson in “Away From Her”.

 

Best Supporting Actress

Amy Ryan was honored for her role as Helene McCready in “Gone Baby Gone”.  The actress won the best supporting actress award for her work in the film.
