7.  Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron moves up two notches, from number nine on last year’s list to number seven for 2006.  While she hasn’t appeared on the silver screen this year, Theron, who earns around $10 million a film, did appear in a recurring role on the FOX comedy “Arrested Development”.  She has been working on several movies including “Ferris Wheel” (2007) with Dennis Hopper and “The Battle in Seattle” (2007) with Ray Liotta.

6.  Halle Berry

Another new name on the list is Halle Berry.  The actress earns approximately $14 million a movie which resulted in a big payday for her work in 2006’s “X-Men: The Last Stand”.  Berry next stars in the 2007 drama “Perfect Stranger” and “Things We Lost in the Fire” (2007) with Benicio Del Toro.

5.  Cameron Diaz

1.  Nicole Kidman

A $16 to $17 million dollar paycheck per movie helped Nicole Kidman to ease up a notch from last year’s list and claim the number one spot.  Kidman had two films in 2006 including the title character in “Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus” and voicing a character in the animated hit film “Happy Feet”.  With several projects in the works, look for Kidman on the silver screen again in “The Invasion” (2007) and “His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass” (2007).
