13th Critics Choice Awards

 

The 13th annual Critic’s Choice Awards were broadcast on VH-1 on January 7th, 2008.  The awards celebrated some of the best of cinema from 2007.  Who were some of this year’s winners?

 

Best Picture

And the winner is:  “No Country for Old Men” starring Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin and Tommy Lee Jones

 

Best Director

Tim Burton for “Sweeney Todd”

Ethan Coen and Joel Coen for “No Country for Old Men”

Sidney Lumet for “Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead”

Sean Penn for “Into the Wild”

Julian Schnabel for “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly”

Joe Wright for “Atonement”

 

And the winner is:  The Coen Brothers for their movie “No Country for Old Men”

 

Best Animated Feature

“Bee Movie”

“Beowulf”

Persepolis

“Ratatouille”

“The Simpsons Movie”

 

And the winner is:  “Ratatouille” was voted Best Animated Feature.

 

Best Comedy Movie

“Dan in Real Life”

“Hairspray”

“Juno”

“Knocked Up”

“Superbad”

 

And the winner is:  “Juno” received the award for Best Comedy Movie.

 

Best Family Film

“August Rush”

“Enchanted”

“The Golden Compass”

“Hairspray”

“Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

 

And the winner is:  “Enchanted” starring Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden and Susan Sarandon won.

 

Best Foreign Language Film

“4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days”

“The Diving Bell and the Butterfly”

“La Vie En Rose”

“Lust Caution”

“The Orphanage”

 

And the winner is:  “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly” won for Best Foreign Language Film.

 

Best Acting Ensemble

“Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead”

“Gone Baby Gone”

“Hairspray”

“Juno”

“No Country for Old Men”

“Sweeney Todd”

 

And the winner is:  “Hairspray” starring Queen Latifah, Michelle Pfeiffer, John Travolta and Christopher Walken won.

Ryan Gosling for “Lars and the Real Girl”

And the winner is:  Daniel Day-Lewis won for his role as Daniel Plainview in “There Will Be Blood”.
